Aegis Monster Hunter Academy

Back in the 1980s, drilling for oil grew too extensive and too deep. Humanity started breaching ancient caverns miles below the Earth's surface. They weren't uninhabited caves either. This extensive cave network was the home of unknowable numbers of massively beasts who now regularly escaped to and rampaged across the surface.

Some of the beasts were not hostile, though. They wanted to protect the surface world, and found the best way to do so was to symbiotically bond with humans, combining the deadly power of the depths with the agile minds of humanity. People who took these creatures into their own bodies became Hosts, and they were the only hope humanity had int protecting themselves.

As most people who become hosts did so at a relatively young age, though, they still have to go to school. To learn how to control their newfound powers AND to learn how to be a productive member of society. YOU are such a Host, and YOU have been accepted in the best school in the world for Hosts:

AEGIS MONSTER HUNTER ACADEMY

Set on the Japanese coast, a few miles south of Tokyo Japan, Aegis is a marvel of modern architecture and a beacon of hope to the nation. It includes on campus housing for student, state of the art training facilities, and is practically a self contained town in and of itself. Kohaku Yuhara is just now becoming a first year student here. What adventures will the new kid have?

Possible thread hooks
- It's orientation day! Time for everyone to figure out where their classes are going to be and meet their classmates/roommates
- It's T-T-T-TIME TO DUEL! As graduates from Aegis are expected to be badass monster hunters, getting some combat experience is a must. That means it is accepted policy for students to resolve differences via public duels
- Combat training! This time it's not against each other, but against simulated monsters. How well do you work as a team?
- Class! This teacher is boring and never stops talking. Exchange whispered conversations. Pass notes. Doodle in the margins of your notebook.
- Day off! A good time to catch up on your studies/training, or to go and actually relax! Read a book! Go for a walk! Watch a movie! Go on a date!
- Or anything else you can think of.

[Character: The Student Council Secretary and Kohaku's new roommate, a woman who takes her duties seriously even when no one else does. She's Host to a spirit-type symbiont that lets her manipulate time, and uses it to try and save-scum for the best diplomatic responses. Uses her powers in conjunction with a combat shotgun and sniper rifle to hunt monsters

The reality is that overuse of her ability tires her out and burns huge amounts of calories, so most moments when she isn't working are spent sleeping or eating. Her first interaction with Kohaku involved slapping them when they walked in on her changing, but she moved back in time so that she was hiding in her bed instead.

I'll be down for whatever you want, canon or otherwise, looking forward to working with you all. But now, imma nap zzzzzzzzzzz]

First go around!

Shogo was going to kill Toyo. Picking a fight with the new kid was awful on its own, but intentionally losing just to get out of her job as StuCo President was not something she could tolerate! For gods sake, he could have died in that battle!

"Lousy, no good, idiot lizard bitch!" She ranted and raved in her half dressed state, exhausted completely by the day's events. "She couldn't have waited to graduate and pass on the position! No, she had to go and pass the buck at the nearest opportunity!" Killing her with a headshot was too good for Toyo, she was going to strangle her with her bare hands for foisting her duties off to some no-nothing noob first year!

So lost in her state of delirium, clawing her hands around a neck that wasn't there, she never noticed the door to their room being unlocked and opened.

Behold, Kohaku, Hazuru Shogo, the StuCo Secretary and your new right-hand woman.

"AND ANOTHER THING-!" Shogo rounded on the interloper, not even aware that they had come in.

Give it a moment.

"You..." She spoke in a menacing tone as she slowly walked over to the man(?). "You saw all that, didn't you?"

Did the door just close behind you, Kohaku?

"Do you know what I have to do now, thanks to your inconsiderate actions today?"

ANNNNNNNNND LOOP!

"Sorry, President." This is the face of death looming over you. "It's far too late for that-"

Loop the second

"You should knock next time," A voice came from the side of the room. Sprawled out on the couch was the dark-haired secretary of the Student Council, and your new subordinate. "I know we're sharing this room, but it would have been troublesome if you walked in on me doing something embarrassing."

For all that she seemed disheveled and exhausted, there's an intelligence shining in her visible eye. Propping herself up on her arm, she introduced herself. "I'm Hazuru Shogo, the Student Council Secretary." Slowly, she got into a proper seated position as she explained things. "As StuCo President, you've been assigned to the same suite as me. This was to ensure you would always follow up on your duties to both the council and the school as President."

"That's because it's also my room," Shogo rejoined. "Just because you're the new President doesn't mean I'm leaving, Yuhara-Shocho."

"More to the point..." Finally gathering enough energy to stand, she walked over to Kohaku, standing at a respectable and not at all murderous distance from her new roommate, an awkward frown crossing her face as she considered her next words carefully. "I want to apologize for what the previous President dragged you through. If I had known that Toyo was planning to lose to you I would have called foul, but it's too late for that." Clever of her, really, to reveal her intentions well past her ability to rewind.

Was there something to see?

Sweet of her to try to be informal, but to someone as duty driven as Shogo-wait, what did she say?

"Your concern is touching, Kohaku-Shocho." You're never getting rid of the suffix, live with it. "I'm just tired, that's all. With how Toyo ran things, I had to do a lot of the legwork myself." Using her time manipulation for something like this was comparitively benign. "With the... exciting events of today, I had to do a lot of running around, prepping everything for the change in leadership. I'll be fine after I get some sleep."

Looking around the room, Kohaku may find that it's not just Shogo that's in horrid straights; everything is in disarray, as if nobody has bothered to actually straighten things out in a long, long time.
